Texas Center for Working-Class Studies 2018 Conference: Call for Papers


The Texas Center for Working-Class Studies will be hosting its fourth annual conference on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Collin College's Spring Creek Campus. The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Victoria E. Bynum, author of The Free State of Jones. We hope you will consider submitting a proposal for a presentation, panel, workshop, or round table. The deadline is Friday, December 1, 2017. The Center is also hosting a Student Essay Contest for Collin College students. Writers of the top three papers will receive cash awards and the opportunity to present at the conference in March. Please see the attached flier and feel free to share with your students.

Labor Day Kick-Off Event: September 8

The Texas Center for Working-Class Studies will be hosting its annual Labor Day kick-off event on Thursday, September 8, from 1:00-2:15, in the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center C. Professors Lupita Murillo Tinnen and Byrd Williams will be presenting "Photographs and the Integrity of Authorship," followed by Q&A. We hope you can join us!

The Texas Center for Working-Class Studies Blog

Welcome to the blog for The Texas Center for Working-Class Studies, which is housed at Collin College in Plano, Texas. The Center started in 2015 and hosts speakers, as well as an annual conference. The vision of the center is to raise awareness about issues of social class and work and to provide opportunities for collaboration among faculty, students, and community members.
